Scope of testing

As a participant in the program, we are looking at three areas of feedback:

Learning curve – As you become familiar with the product, were there things that were not intuitive to find or figure out how to do?
Your normal workflows – Try to use them as you do today. Does everything work? Are any primary workflows broken?
Fiery provided test cases – Perform common client printing workflows. You can review the test cases here.

Participant responsibilities
Time Commitment: We ask you to cover the three testing areas mentioned above within the test period.
Feedback: Report any issues and provide feedback through a private forum in Fiery Communities. We expect you to complete surveys on time, using this dedicated Communities forum. This forum will be constantly monitored.

About PSA for Windows

Our goal for the Fiery PSA is to provide a simple and intuitive printing experience for end users, while reducing support time and effort for IT professionals.
The Fiery PSA will provide a modern, secure, and Mopria-compliant print experience — replacing old and insecure printer drivers.

What is a PSA?

Print Support Applications or PSAs are applications developed by independent software manufacturers following Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform (UWP) guidelines.

PSAs can perform privileged operations, such as installation and updates.

PSAs can automatically install the first time a device is connected and extend the printing experiences built into the Windows OS.
For printers, PSAs will serve as a companion to the printing device and will add more capabilities than the regular IPP inbox driver included with the OS.

Why are PSAs important?

· Microsoft announced the end of its servicing plan for third-party printer drivers on Windows. You can read Microsoft’s announcement here.
· With the release of Windows 10 21H2, Windows offers inbox support for Mopria compliant printer devices via the Microsoft IPP Class Driver. This removes the need for print device manufacturers like Fiery to provide our own installers, drivers, utilities, and so on.
· Starting with the release of Windows 11, PSAs are the recommended method to submit print jobs from a Windows client.
· PSAs will provide users custom features according to the printer capabilities and will be distributed and automatically installed via the Windows Store.
· This new framework improves reliability, security, user experience and performance
